Hello Parents,

Your son may be considering joining a fraternity or perhaps is already a member of Kappa Gamma Rho. This is an important step in your son’s life and is one that he will likely want to share with you.

You may be asking, “What is a Fraternity?” Well, a fraternity is a group of like-minded men who all share a set of values that guide their decisions and actions. Sharing these values is the basis of the brotherhood that they form together. These brotherhood bonds based on shared values are the essence of the fraternity. We know the typical assumptions of a fraternity can be overwhelming to some, but our organization is strictly against any form of hazing or anti-social behavior, complying fully with the University of New Haven guidelines.

Kappa Gamma Rho is also a social fraternity. Unfortunately, in current use, the word social is all too often used to describe anti-social behavior. Members who exhibit anti-social behavior, including the abuse of alcohol and hazing, are subject to discipline within the organization and by the University of New Haven. Similarly, hazing is anti-social behavior. Hazing has no place in Kappa Gamma Rho.

Interpersonal relationships are important while in college. Members of our organization strive to help one another, becoming a strong resource and support system for each other. Fraternity members consistently persist to graduation at a higher rate than non-member students because they have a peer support network.

Our fraternity is a local, self-governed body, led by the young men who embody our values today. These men participate in social activities, brotherhood activities, and community service projects. Your son will gain great leadership skills while amongst fellow members, learning to be a proud member of their community through activates done through our fraternity. Kappa Gamma Rho is a non-profit organized to provide resources and services to its members and the surrounding community.

We are excited that your son is considering membership with Kappa Gamma Rho and hope that his association proves to be most rewarding.
